January 13, 2023
On January 13, after months long retrograde that started on October 30, 2022, Mars finally will start to go direct in Taurus in the nakshatra of Rohini. Mars is stationary on Thursday, January 12, meaning it is extra, super powerful in this position. On January 13 (yes, Friday the 13th), it will move direct.
Taurus is the natural second house of the zodiac and represents security, speech, values, and the throat. It’s not surprising that there were rises in flu, cold and coughs during this time. Taurus is symbolized by the bull and Mars is like a charging bull, wanting to push forward with his agenda, but his energy and motivation to stay focused is channeled through impulsivity and aggression. It’s not uncommon to have felt irritable and unsettled these last few months.
Rohini represents growth and forward movement and is symbolized by a chariot. Mars in Rohini suggests freedom and his desire for independence can bring about stubbornness and rigidity. Think of it like Mars wanting to drive his own car without any company in the passenger or back seat. Due to the sensual nature and love of finer things (thanks to Taurus ruled Venus), the shadow side of Rohini can bring an attachment to comfort and luxury, in which the energy for creative pursuits can lead to a downfall.
There can be ups and downs in relationships, as Taurus is ruled by Venus, the planet of love, so Mars can create sparks with one another. Mars aspects a retrograde Mercury in Sagittarius, so the day it goes stationary, January 12, expect some verbal discourse to take place as things can be said in the heat of the moment. Don’t be surprised that you may speak from the heart and say what’s on your mind. Sagittarius is the sign of truth. A retrograde Mercury will make you extra blunt, and with a powerful stationary Mars, it’s like both planets are on steroids!
This was an extra long retrograde, so just be aware that this feistiness lasted longer than expected and like any retrograde, things from the past resurfaced that were approached with anxiety. Mars moving direct will provide relief from that extra pent up frustration, rage, and anger that has been felt these last few months. You may have revisited how you spend your money and part of your NY’s resolution could be to rethink your finances. Like any retrograde that passes, you may have a different perspective on money and relationships.
Once Mars goes direct, the edge will be off, but it’s not until March 13 that we are out of the red zone, when Mars will finally leave Taurus and enter the sign of Gemini. Just remember to let go of what’s not working to make so you can refocus and recharge with lots of self care 💫✨🌙
