Solar Eclipse in Aries

by | Apr 20, 2023

This is when the light of the Sun is blocked by the Moon. The Sun and Moon are the two luminaries in the sky, with the Sun being the king of the solar system. When the Sun’s light is blocked, the light within ourselves is also obstructed and we are powerless as we do not receive its life force.  That is why it is said to look within ourselves during an eclipse.

The solar eclipse is at 8 degrees of Aries, so if you have any natal planets at 8 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn (movable signs), you will be impacted. In addition, if you are a Leo rising or have the Moon in Leo, this will be a challenging time, as the Sun is your chart ruler and with his light blocked, you will feel drained and exhausted. Furthermore, this eclipse is heavily impacted by a slew of malefics, including Saturn, Ketu, Rahu, Mercury, Mars, Uranus and the Sun. The saving grace is the movement of Jupiter transiting from Pisces to Aries.

The heavy energy of Saturn casting his third aspect on Aries, indicates new beginnings will come with delays and difficulties. The third house is about overcoming challenges, and Saturn will provide that strength to overcome, as it is strong in its own sign of Aquarius. Mars is the ruler of Aries, but in the enemy sign of Mercury, will result in frustrations, especially as Mercury goes retrograde. As we look forward, Saturn will force us to slow down and to deliberate with our actions. There will be rocky starts and stops, as Mercury and Mars create impulsivity and Saturn will throw the brakes on to pause on being reactive. Uranus will create the unexpected and Saturn will give us the patience and persistence to navigate through the consequences.

The solar eclipse will be followed by a lunar eclipse on May 5.
