We end the year with a relatively calm month! Mercury moves into Sagittarius on December 2 and Venus moves into Sagittarius on December 5. Both planets are moving from Scorpio to Sagittarius and will pass what’s called “gadanta,” which is the transition from a water sign to a fire sign. This is when a planet feels feel like it’s “drowning”, and you can feel overwhelmed and distressed for the time the planet goes through that transition. Because Mercury rules communication and Venus rules relationships, we can become vulnerable to mishaps in these two areas. But rest assured, Mercury and Venus are fast moving planets, and this a very short time period (a day), so this gadanta shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
Then we have a full moon in Taurus in the nakshatra of Rohini on December 7 that will be with a retrograde Mars. The Moon is exalted in Taurus and is in its “favorite” nakshatra, Rohini. Because the Moon represents our mind and sense of nurturing, you can feel agitated and frustrated.
The Sun moves into Sagittarius on December 16, and will also pass through gadanta on December 15. Another fast moving planet, this transit is only a day long, but as the Sun represents leadership, authority, our sense of self and physical health, there can be a sense of loss with these issues, but fortunately this feeling won’t be sustainable for too long.
There will be a new Moon in Sagittarius in the nakshatra of Mula on December 23, and at that point, we will have the Moon, Sun, Mercury and Venus in Sagittarius. Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius will be in Pisces. Note that a retrograde Mars and Rahu will be aspecting all four planets in Sagittarius. This will bring up some sort of issue from the past that will be hard to let go of and will be persistently on your mind. Sagittarius is the natural ninth house of the zodiac, and is symbolized by half man, half horse carrying a bow and an arrow (aka the archer), indicating aim and direction. Something from your past may push you in a new direction to give you a renewed sense of purpose.
Mercury enters Capricorn on December 28, and goes retrograde (yes, again, for the last time this year!) the very next day, December 29 and then moves right back to Sagittarius on December 30. Venus enters Capricorn on December 29 and both planets (Mercury briefly) join Pluto and Saturn. Saturn is at its tail end of its stay in Capricorn, as it moves to Aquarius in the new year.
So lots of planets are changing signs this month, but hopefully it will not be as charged as the last couple of months, symbolizing peace, harmony and a sense of renewal as we move into 2023!
